I’ve been saying it for a while, “There needs to be real suffering nationwide before people will learn. Just have to hope the innocent loss of life is minimized.”
Not like the US hadn’t been experiencing some pretty awful suffering in many places, especially considering it’s “the richest country on the planet”. They’re just super insular and when they are forced to look outside themselves they pretend like basic principles don’t apply to them and that’s why things have to be that way.
It’s not even entirely based on racist divides such that they can pull that card. Straight, white US citizens are getting fucked on the daily and still that’s not enough. The middle class isn’t a real thing, really, and people still pretend that it is to avoid admitting how bad things have gotten.
I’m an American. Don’t feel sorry. I try talking to home and it’s like speaking to a wall. This has to happen.
