I wonder how much of that is due to the impression that Democrats are not really standing up to the thugs in our society (Republicans/conservatives).

So, what are y’all going to vote? Is there a truly mainstream-left alternative? Maybe that third party already exists, maybe somebody saw the sign of the times and started one?

Americans: “We took all power away from Democrats and gave it to Republicans. Why aren’t Democrats saving us from what we did?”

Yeah, a whole lot of them even still say things like they voted for Donakd “to shake things up”, even as they whine about Democrats not preventing him from doing crazy stuff even they think is stupid and reckless. Well, duh, if you give all the power to the toddler and tie the hands of the adults, bad shit is going to happen, even if it is going to “shake things up”. In other words, a whole lot of people decided to fuck around, and now we all get to “find out” along with these bozos.

      🤦‍♀️

Democratic Leadership when they have power: “We can’t afford to give you the healthcare/housing/economy/peace/rights that we promised, which is well below the healthcare/housing/economy/peace/rights that you actually need, sorry. Anyway, we’re off to spend all your tax money on the military, intelligence agencies, and our rich friends. Good luck out there.”

Democratic Leadership afterwards: “Wait, why aren’t you voting for us?”

        Americans:

“We didn’t get an improvement from Democrats so we are voting for the Republicans who promised to make things worse.”

“Oh no, Republicans made things worse! Why did Democrats do this to us?”

They had four years to hold the last Trump administration accountable and prevent all this.

I agree but what would have also worked is not voting for Trump. But Americans don’t take responsibility.

      1. Well then maybe they should’ve done something while they had that power.

      2. The Democrats have eagerly given up what little power they had to obstruct Trump’s agenda.

      3. Political power is about a lot more than the power afforded to one by their political office. The Democrats should be out there whipping the sane two thirds of America into action, not sitting on their asses and sucking off Mango Mussolini.

As a non-American I sum it up as this: For the last 50 years (that I am old enough to know about) Democrats don’t have the answer so they are bad. Republicans don’t have the answer but will lie to us every minute of the day to keep us happy so they are good. Then Americans wonder why their country is about to implode.

If this was the case, Republicans would always win and Democrats would always lose.

That’s not the case, though. Recently people just vote for the party that is out of power, because no matter who gets elected everything gets worse. Republicans get elected, everything gets worse, so people vote for Democrats next time. Then the Democrats get elected, everything gets worse, and so people vote for Republicans next time. Over and over until we’re all dead.
