I needed to do it for unemployment benefits and was uncomfortable the whole time. If there was an in person option I would have done it, even if it took a 2 hr drive each way. I really disliked that they wanted my camera on for a face scan to confirm that it matched my id. Nope, nope, nope!
Giving your govt id over the internet for literally any reason is wild to me.
I could understand doing it through an official government website or for a bank. Anything else? Absolutely not.

The official government website where I used to live got hacked and everyone’s personal info was stolen. So, I don’t trust that either.
I barely want my friends and family to know my legal name and date of birth.
