Though a couple years ago when solving a cube on a train, I was approached by a young boy who had a 3x3 he couldn’t solve, and I ended up sitting with him for a while. He didn’t speak much English, but he knew colours and orthogonal directions, and he had enough interest for me to teach him how to solve the first layer.
I’ve never seen him again, and I sometimes wonder if he became a cuber.
