The battle at Winterfell is a perfect microcosm of the issues. Even apart from the shit artistic work (everything was so dark you could barely see what was happening), almost every scene made no sense:
they start by sending a bunch of people into the army of the undead only for them to die & turn into more undead
the catapults etc. are in front of the castle gates where they’re easily destroyed
they put their most vulnerable into the crypts, where dozens of dead bodies lie, while fully aware their enemies can reanimate them
characters keep getting into situations and scenes where it looks like they’ll surely die, only for them to be fine in the next scene
almost everyone survives what is basically an unwinnable battle
Bran doesn’t do shit
they shit all over the Azor Ahai prophecy by having Aria “end” the long night via killing the Night King, while Jon Snow has basically no relevancy
I can’t think of a single good choice in that episode. It took one of the greatest series of all time, and made what is essentially the climax look worse than a B-movie from the 2000s
