    To be honest I understand the children here. The saving part of me just understand that it is better to use everything.

    It’s pretty much the same with pigs, only part that isn’t used is brain.

      Brain was used in old cold cut recipes and still sees use in some specialty restaurants and such. it’s not common (i guess mostly because it spoils faster than most of the rest of the animal), but not unheard off.

      My Grandmother was once very pleased to get her hands on fresh brain, which she basicaly stir fried with eggs and oinions. Me and my brother were not pleased with it, but i think it once was a fairly popular dish in germany and austria.

      so if you know a butcher you trust you might be able to buy cleaned fresh brain. I still would not recommend it, but if it can be used why not?

          afaik not an issue with pigs, but with bovines and deer, would not eat those and neither would have Grandmother, BSE was a big thing when i was a kid.

            This is bit misconception, pigs are really similar to us and we can get BSE or how is it called in humans (it has several names according to the animal that gets the disease).

            The problem why the BSE got out of hand was because they used these parts as feed for another animals.

        My mother fed me brains as a kid. They smelled terrible cooking but tasted great

      You can buy pig brain in a can. Though I don’t eat meat much anymore, it did go well with eggs.
