I am not a Christian but church run on donations and are not a business for profit and all and they even help the poor by clothing them and giving them food. Same for mosque and some other places of worship. I think taxes would just hurt them and the people they help.
Won’t be any different than the US at some point. If this keeps going being homeless will be the norm and having an apartment or house will be a luxury for the upper class. The more we go the less food and other basic necessities I can buy.
I mean yeah they shouldn’t get involved in that. Just let the law deal with the people buying things that would be illegal. And this is also why cash and crypto (for online purchases) are the best way to buy things. Credit card companies should have no say in what people buy.
All it really does is prioritize herd mentality though, like if you don’t think like the others then you get downvoted and your comment hidden. I think this is just bad and was the main thing I hated about reddit.
I mean video game addiction is real thing to and it can be pretty bad like some people play games and stay up for days and it affects them badly but video games and porn are two different things. Not even comparable. Also I don’t think anyone “dislikes” pornography. But some recognize its harmful effects on the brain and on society so they do their best to not watch it and to quit it. They are not working hard to quit that habit for nothing.

While I think lemmy is great compared to reddit I still don’t like the whole upvote and downvote system. As it’s mostly based on people who agree with something and they will downvote you if they disagree with you. There should just be commends and replies to comments imo. At least downvoted posts don’t get hidden from view I guess.
Porn and video games are very different and they affect your brain differently, not even comparable.

What if the daughter is in their 20s or 30s? As for depiction, yes there are depiction of violence and murder in movies and games but it is not done in a way that glorify it and most people don’t watch it with thirst for murder and violence and they don’t get off to it either. The problem with porn is it’s made with that in mind, it only exist for people to lust after and get off to it. In many circumstances they are always trying to look for more extreme content because the normal stuff isn’t as satisfying anymore. It has been shown to affect the same area of the brain as meth and cocaine. It doesn’t cause harm physically but mentally. Sure a thing existing doesn’t make it inherently wrong but it more the effect it has on the people consuming the content. It’s also why drugs are bad. You could say the drug is just a plant, that it’s natural and that there is nothing wrong with that plant existing. But the problem is the effect that plant has on people who consume it. And I am not against you drawing something in private at home or anything, in fact I am strictly against spying and mass surveillance and people should all have privacy in their own home and place they live. So whatever you do on your own time by yourself alone I don’t care but the problem comes when that thing gets shared with others and affects them negatively.
I mean yeah some people who refused to get the vaccine could lose their job and all. That was pretty bad in some sense but you have to understand that when there is a pandemic it’s important that if a vaccine is out and ready to take it not only for your safety, actually you could be just fine without it yourself, but for the safety of others around you too and those who are weaker. If not taking a vaccine will endanger others around you then you should either take the vaccine or not go to public places where there are many people who could be at risk of dying from the virus. What I was really against is the whole passport thing and how they tried to get you to use some app and tracking you through that which was a privacy concern for me.

Can’t know for sure. But yeah I don’t really trust them. Privacy is very important to me and yeah mass surveillance is just bad. Privacy should be a human right. Sure mass surveillance could catch some criminals but it’s not worth spying on everyone just for a few bad apples. I don’t like this one bit.

It’s the truth though. That’s what it does and if you don’t see it yourself then you need some help like seriously because it means you are not even aware of it. Rather than watching porn you can do something productive or do something else you enjoy. Or if you have a wife then you know, do it with her. And if you don’t then maybe go and find one. It’s hard to tell if most people here are addicted or not when they get so triggered when you don’t approve of it. It’s just not healthy at all mentally, you can look it up there has been plenty of studies done on it and the harmful effects it has on your brain. It has even been compared to cocaine and meth.
Rather than being happy that happen I think we should look at the situation. And how bad it is that we need a permit for literally everything. Rather than just renting some place and running your event. I don’t think people would be rejoicing if rather than MAGA it was some LGBTQ event being fined.
