Good. There is no point in being part of a government that doesn’t believe in governance. Here’s hoping that other Blue States join a compact with California.

If nothing else, their sheer inability to understand reality would make it much easier to put Dogey America to sleep. Animals use language, however primitive, to warn of danger. Trumpkins fundamentally fails at this, and will start to die in record numbers when they eat RFK Burgers with rat diarrhea as the sauce.
Not even sure if I am kidding there. They are tearing down the institutions that protect everyone from everything.
Good. Conservative ideology should be tossed into the flames of Mordor.
That is pretty much why the Constitution had checks and balances, in order to insulate it from the human element, by pitting elements against each other. It worked, until capture of the assorted branches became too concentrated for the checks to balance.
This isn’t to say that the Constitution is a bad idea. Rather, I view laws and bureaucracy as a type of social technology. There are merits and demerits in the make and placement of components, and without good design, maintenance, or a well thought out replacement, the technology will inevitably fail.
We need a v2.0 Constitution for a better United States, one designed to eliminate flaws, loopholes, or even add new checks & balances outright. For example, term and age limits on supreme justices, with each state having 1 popularly voted supreme every 10 years. We don’t want congress nor the president to select who interprets law, because it becomes a game of trickery or horse trading. We need younger and more diverse justices to represent the land’s people.
In addition to this, I believe that we will need floors and ceilings to be set on wealth, alongside the provisioning of universal benefits to all people. By doing this, America and other nations can guard from the corrosion that excessive individual wealth can cause. We have to prevent the existence of future Musks, and design an economy that allows the many to live in comfort and freedom, without letting individuals metastasize into a cancer.
So they aren’t idiots. Far as I can tell with MAGATs, they do stupid things even if it catches themselves on fire.
I think if they need an extra income stream, it should be physical manuals, discs/disks, boxes, and feelies. Say that GOG has System Shock, Ultima VII, Thief Gold, and TIE Fighter planned for a limited edition boxed edition, but needs pre-orders. Plonk down $20-40, get those things when the funding goal is reached.
I hope a traffic controller guides Elon’s jet into the tarmac.
Perhaps there is an reincarnation of Saint Olga in Canada? I bet she would be more than happy to deploy pigeons as self-guiding munitions, with geese serving as living drones on the battlefield.
Puppet History Theater: The Bloody Revenge of Saint Olga of Kiev
I think this type of project would take at least five years. A minimum of three to develop, 1 to do internal QA, and at least a fifth as a slow roll out from the smallest states while progressing to the larger. If bugs are revealed during that fifth year, slow the roll while getting them patched up.
It is the sort of thing that requires long term vision, effective governance, and patience. Things that Trump and friends do not possess.
Sourced from Canada. Good stuff.
I am certain that Dogey America will lose. Whether any good parts of the USA survive the chemotherapy is the question.
If nothing else, I look forward to the history books and a tragicomedy documentary about…everything, really.
Personally, I am guessing that the American Dollar will end up like the Weimer Republic’s currencies.
I am removing my life savings from the bank and turning them into Euros. Everyone’s economy will dip, but I am pretty certain America will have a Greater Depression. Unlike the Great Depression or the Weimer Republic, the annihilation of government agencies and fiscal instruments is deliberate & total.
Dunno, honestly. Still, I expect that if the EU implemented a Russian Marshall Plan, they likely have intelligence profiles on who is least bad to head up a budding democracy. If that someone steps out of line, they are removed in some fashion and a different person is tried until the project succeeds. In this hypothetical scenario, the EU can shut the Marshall purse strings until an appropriate puppet is willing to be tied to them. Or leave through a convenient window in search of a replacement.
I wasn’t advocating for his survival. His elimination is a prerequisite to a genuine Marshall Plan. The question is what happens after his death, and that means supporting Russian leaders who prefer democracy over the old ways.
I don’t think our positions are mutually exclusive. I am thinking Russia in the west getting the Marshall Plan reform treatment would be done, and what you described also happening. That would make it easier for the EU to handle the Russian territory closer to home.
Plus, China tearing off a haunch of Russia might be good for peace in the long run. It would allow Xi Ping to have a victorious legacy, without having to attack Taiwan. The Chinese tiger might sleep while digesting the territory it reclaimed from Russia.
I would assume that Ukraine would also get a Marshall Plan. The place is rich with resources and food, but lacks the infrastructure to take advantage. That makes Ukraine suitable for investment, since the EU would get a healthy trading partner in the long run. As with Russia, letting Ukraine rot after the conflict could lead to trouble down the line, so keeping democratic Ukraine in good health is key to keeping the peace.
Be it pragmatic or moral, there is a great deal of value in well executed Marshall Plans for everyone involved.
Considering how Western Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan turned out after their Marshall Plans, I think there is a lot of evidence that reforming and rebuilding a country helps with making them into democratic major powers. I would guess the EU would do it, and Ukraine would want their neighbor to stop being a jackass.
Poland certainly wouldn’t want Ukraine to annex Russia, that just means a new rival on their doorstep. Ditto for Turkey, since they are a naval bottleneck, and wouldn’t want a Uber Ukraine to get ideas. So on and so forth. A lot of nations would rather a smaller and reformed Russia, than a bigger and hungry Ukraine. Better to foster small but capable democracies that want to be part of the EU bloc.
I just hope that the EU and other major powers blacklist Yarvin’s Cabal from living or operating in their territories. The 1%'s money is tainted, as it would surely be used to corrode and destroy countries as it had the US.
That flag comes from a videogame series, called Fallout. The premise is that America or China began a nuclear war, with horrific results for the world as a whole. At least a couple hundred years later, the player is released from the confines of a fallout shelter. These vaults housed the remnants of humanity as we knew them, and they are now emerging to recolonize the earth.
Thing is, some critters had children, despite the excessive radiation. New California’s national animal, the bear, tends to have an extra pair of heads.
If the premise of the series interests you, I recommend New Vegas as your starting point. It has the most narrative strength in the series and is user friendly in comparison to the original games. Fallout 4 is approachable, but lost writing and player choice, unfortunately.
Fallout trailers, all of them.
