  • I enjoyed this episode a bit more than the previous one. So far, everything surrounding the sister is a bit confusing, but in a good mystery sort of way. We all knew that Schwar-chan was not going to be staying with them, but I kind of find myself wishing that his story wasn’t wrapped up in just a single episode. I feel like a more gradual unfolding over a couple episode could have been powerful, especially as a way for Youko to find out more about the pre-apocalypse and maybe even having Airi relating to him on some level. That said, I like the way they handled it for a single episode story; how not every single thing was spelled out for us and the melancholic ending.

  • This one is surprisingly good. I think the animation is shockingly solid. The scene with the stall owner putting together the food was really nice. I like how everyone accepts that the henchmen are just part of the world. It really makes me want a full length series of this kind of thing. Kind of reminds me a bit of Acro Trip from last year, but focusing on the more adult side of things. I’m sad that this show isn’t going to get credit for what it does do well.

  • Ok, that one kid is crazy. What was up with him requesting that the kiss? But now that we’re seeing what kind of world this is, I’m not surprised that the kids are all a bit crazy. The information we’re getting into the current state of the world are actually fascinating and make sense with the themes that this anime seems to be trying to explore.

Also, I was already excited to see the magical Santa, but now you tell me that there is an anti-Santa squad called the St. Nick Pursuit Unit? I’m all in.

  • "I can’t talk about the details, as that includes some very private matters,” he said. “But if you ask whether it’s a creative or business issue, the reasons stem from the creative side. Since it was an original animation, the people involved—including the creators and the animation studio, MAPPA—among the creators, on the creative side, a situation arose where it just became impossible to proceed with production.”

Dang, I guess that does happen. It would be nice to hear what the plot was going to be at least, though I doubt it will ever happen since that’s the reason it was it cancelled. At least we still have the show.
