People don’t realize the peripheral consequences and the real issue. The consequences are enormous. It will redefine what it means to know about a work and for any covers, derivative, or anything remotely similar. AI is like any person that is familiar with a style, like any musician. Setting legal precedent here will have repercussions everywhere else too. Ethics like this do not hold into some prejudiced little container that only applies to AI. If you want heavy handed stupidity that lacks intelligent ethics and scope that is exactly what you will get.
At the present, AI is not really creative but neither is most pop music. Most artists have never really made much money compared to the record labels yet no one seems to care about such corporate exploitation. When those exploiters stand to lose, suddenly it becomes an issue that hits news outlets.
