He was always a low information idiot. He watched TV all day, every day, especially Fox News. I had tried to convince him to get vaccinated. You’d think he’d listen to me - I’m a goddamn microbiologist and worked in public health for years - but he just lied and told me he got the shots. He died from COVID about a year later, while we were estranged.
It was no surprise: he was 5’2 and 150 pounds overweight, a smoker, and had COPD, wildly uncontrolled diabetes, kidney failure, and a host of other health issues.
