  • The US’s democracy has been systematically and continuously eroded for decades, from defunding of the arts/education, defunding of social services, citizens united, consolidation of all media outlets under a few wealthy individuals that shape the US narrative. The people are misinformed, and even so a large majority of those who aren’t are impoverished and barely surviving. Election day isn’t a holiday meaning some of them can’t afford to take time off to vote. And that’s ignoring the gerrymandering and voter suppression that’s been rampant for decades now too, swaying local and statewide elections. Most people don’t want this, but everything is working against us, most of us don’t want this and didn’t vote for him or his chronies. And for the people in the comments saying “that’s not how a democracy works” CORRECT ours has been dying since the 80’s at the least, and it’s not like America was this shining rod of democracy before that either. It’s not the citizens doing this, they don’t have any say in this type of thing, it’s those who have forced, bribed, and conned their way into power doing everything.

As an American I genuinely fear for the upcoming primaries because in no way do I trust that the results will be legitimate, and even if they are I feel as though they’ll be fucking ignored.

  • My concern is that some of these “additives” could just be harmless preservatives, dyes, or even lab synthesized ingredients that are usually naturally occuring through some non industrial method, but they add them a different way because it’s cheaper at scale.

Not saying it’s the same but it gives me similar pause and concern as the the “natural dyes” initiative by RFK. The natural dyes are literally just the same chemicals just gotten from “natural” means rather than synthesized in a lab.

Another example is the fear mongering against high fructose corn syrup in the 00’s when it’s literally broken down into the same thing as sugar in your body before it’s used. The only difference between it and sugar, even down to flavor, is that it was created in a lab from corn because it was cheaper because of government subsidies.

  • The term ultra processed us pretty controversial unless they explicitly define it in this legislation. A PB & J is considered ultra processed even if you make the peanut butter, the jam, and the bread yourself because those ingredients have been processed heavily from their natural state.

    Edit:

It defines such foods as those that pose the greatest risks to consumers based on scientific evidence of adverse health outcomes, and it directs the state Public Health Department to determine which particular products meet the definition by June 2028.

    Ah ok that makes sense.

  • Oh I made it, I make more than a lot of my peers in highschool, not all of them, but I make a good wage. But I fucking hate the dev industry man. I was unemployed for 3 months and I got so much done. Agile methodology sucks the soul out of me, I don’t have anything left for my personal projects. It’s micromanagement incarnate. Oh you had two bad dev cycles in a row? Guess it’s time for a PIP. Oh you had to step away for an errand a few times this dev cycle? Let’s not make it a habit, even though all your work is done. Oh you have mutiple 2 hour meetings to attend and we still label you as having full capacity meaning you have to figure out how to do 8 days of dev work in almost half that time. I’m so fucking tired of it.
