On the topic of young people unable to buy a home, Whoopi said to her co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin:
“You got to go out and get a job…I know you’re young, but here’s what it is. You work, and you can afford a house. And you can go and get one.”
She’s not wrong though. Houses in the middle of bumfuck nowhere are cheap as dirt, but nobody wants those.
While there are good reasons for being against buying that kind of housing, it’s still technically correct.It’s not that nobody “wants” those. If I could work remotely I wouldn’t give a fuck living in the middle of nowhere, actually I would prefer it. But then how do I commute? I’d have to buy a car because I would have no public transport, would lose a lot of time commuting, and you know what? Even in the middle of nowhere the rent prices are just like 30% lower in my area. So I’d end up spending more money on gas and more time commuting.
All good reasons.
