      It’s a pun on desert/dessert. At first you think they’re in a desert and the character pronounced it wrong/author spelled it wrong, but the final panel reveals that it was accurate and they’re on top of a large dessert, which is possibly also a desert as well

        I’m choosing to read it as a food desert. Because they’re fat, and that Nunez clearly has a mouth full of cake icing (doesn’t look like they died of hunger, maybe thurst?). So they probably know there’s lots of dessert. Plus they can see the desserts.

        So could be about food deserts.
