Even if he understood (I doubt he does but perhaps) he wouldn’t even care cause NATO doesn’t give him tribute to helping the world keep peace.
Amazing what one person elected(?) can do to the world order.
I sort of thought during his first term the people who elect the country with the world’s most powerful alliance shouldn’t be just by their own country or at least be due to revue by the alliance’s participants. As much as it sucks for sovereignty we are in a different place these days, hell perhaps we weren’t aligned enough before.
Am Canadian so having our neighbor do this crap is horrifying.
Yes I know that goes against a country’s democracy but perhaps times have changed for alliance requirements. The US made themselves dependable and that should with stipulations to be a part of an alliance.
I’ve had conversations with my far right relatives. They hate NATO, the EU, the UN and any other organization that tried to help people. They were happy when trump broke protocol by leaving the queen behind during a visit.
They see this boorish and cartoonist character as strength. They’re delighted that the world is in turmoil
He was elected, no question about it. Americans are just really really stupid.
Democracy is fine, and so are alliances. Venezuela isn’t in an alliance and the Americans can do as they please there. Also it’s not a democracy so when it’s one authoritarian country fucking around with another authoritarian country, no one’s going to get up in arms. If Denmark didn’t have allies and wasn’t a democracy, the US would’ve invaded Greenland six months ago if not sooner.
The problem is ignorance. Americans are just generally ignorant of the world, ignorant of democracy and only really believe in the rights and freedoms of slave masters. Democracy isn’t something written on a piece of paper as Americans believe, it’s about having a society where people respect one another’s rights. Our alliances are based around that.
Americans don’t believe in “our rights” they only believe in “my rights” ie. the rights of the salve masters which they’ve been indoctrinated into worshiping. They’ve only had some semblance of democracy for a relatively short period of time, but will always gravitate back towards the ideals of the slave masters they worship.
Democracy will continue on even if it dies in the US and it’s imperative we maintain our alliances with other democracies to contain them.
