The shape, with that cutout/notch on the corner, is quite telling. The German armed forces stylize the iron cross pretty differently nowadays, precisely to break from the connection to the nazis. Even though Hitler himself favored antiqua over fraktur typefaces, it wasn’t until 1941 when they made the switch, so the latter is more often associated with the third reich than the former. The unit number, 422 (which was changed from 129, the one assigned when it was established), does sound like a neo-nazi dog whistle, 4 22 = 88 or something. There’s also the other emblem on this page (similar to the emblem of the nazi luftwaffe, with the swastika swapped for an iron cross).
These are nazis. I don’t mean this in anyway to support Russia or to try to diminish support for Ukraine. It’s not like we don’t have all the European militaries full of nazis/fascists as well.
They’re probably referring to the general black escutcheon with white emblem design, which the Waffen-SS divisions used. Only a few used this specific shape, but you can see it on the emblem of SS Panzerdivisions Wiking and Hitlerjugend as examples
They do have Nazi Luftwaffe eagle emblems on some of their other stuff (with the swastika removed, but definitely still the same eagle), which seems like a genuinely bizarre thing to combine with the post-Nazi cross
Scroll down to the bottom whre there’s a carousel of patches and hats and stuff. The t shirt and one of the patches has it
To be clear I’m absolutely pro-Ukraine. In my opinion Russia is actively hindering Ukraine as a whole from dealing with people like this because it’s legitimising anyone who successfully resists Russia and putting Ukraine in a desperate situation where it can’t afford to fight anyone that is currently helping

SS shield? I only see the ones with the cross from the coat of arms of the German Bundeswehr.
Also, the Nazis were against the use of Fraktur fonts and promoted the use of Antiqua fonts.

Which is weird, because the actual nazis would have killed or enslaved them for not being German.
