    Corporate hierarchies reward and thus effectively select for sociopathy.

    A person with morals, principles, integrity and/or empathy will have particular choices they won’t be willing to make - courses of action they won’t be willing to follow.

    A person with none of those things, which is to say, a sociopath, will be entirely free to follow any beneficial course of action, regardless of the harm it might do. Therefore a sociopath will have an advantage when fighting their way up the corporate ladder, and the system will tend to select for sociopaths.
