I know it’s better in theory than Reddit but maaaaan it’s so lonely here sometimes! So many communities are just a ghost town. It’s so bad that I (normally a lurker) am motivated enough to get out of my cave and post. We need more active text only post subs cause I’m just soo sick of news links :/ we also need more active friend making subs fr.

It’s normal because so many people are confused about it and how to use Fediverse services, particularly with all the options available. Like with Reddit you just go to reddit.com and you’re there. Even people who are on Mastodon (probably the most popular Fediverse app) might not know how to use Lemmy. It’s gonna take time for it to grow to Reddit levels. Meantime, best thing to do is advertise Fediverse accounts; share @[email protected] which has good guides on how to use the Fediverse (including Lemmy), share Lemmy posts on other media where possible, and maybe add some of your favorite communities on your Mastodon or other account profiles.
