The author was singled out purely for being Palestinian and due to the Bondi terror attack. Which she had nothing to do with of course but it was a dog-whistle to all the bigots out there. I’m glad the other writers boycotted the event. The board should be ashamed of themselves. The event director resigned due to the interference of the board (she the one interviewed in the clip linked above) and is rightfully disgusted by what they did, and their shitty reasoning and response.

Yeah. You didn’t read the article.

Do I think her appearance should have been cancelled? No, that is ridiculous.

However, she has said and written inciteful things, to deny that is wilful or just plain ignorance.

Incredible, I wish this kind of response took place everywhere these things happen. Even seeing the committee resign as consequence is amazing these days when all I see anymore are people who double down and never admit to being wrong.

To be fair, the committee didn’t admit they were wrong to make the decision they did, just that they should have handled it differently.

Abdel-Fattah faced backlash for posting “May 2025 be the end of Israel” and changing her profile picture to a picture of a Palestinian paratrooper after the 7 October attacks.

    What a horrible take.

    This woman is Vivian Silver:

She is a peace activist. She regularly visited Gaza to bring medications to sick kids. In 1999, she created the Arab-Jewish Centre for Equality and Cooperation.

Vivian is also one of the founders of B’Tselem, an human rights organization that defends Palestinians.

On October 7th, she was kidnapped and killed. Her house was burned down.

This is not something to celebrate

And you shit on her memory by using her legacy and image for hasbara in a way that she clearly would have disliked. You should be ashamed.

Can you write down why it’s okay to celebrate October 7 on October 8?

Actually write it down? Because I would be interested in seeing your justification.

It’s disgusting to be happy about mass murder of any group.
