I read a lot of the manga, I enjoyed the show because they don’t shy away from the ridiculous and lean into the styles in a way I didn’t think would be possible in live action.
I couldn’t get into the anime because it’s a million episodes. I thought I would not be able to handle the show because of the same reactions you have, plus not having knowledge of the show, but it somehow works for me? I can’t explain it.
How is it actually watching this?
The intensity of cringe the trailers of this live action adaptation makes me feel, is difficult to describe.
It’s orders of magnitude more visceral and uncomfortable than watching an adult naruto running.
The story, and especially the charachters, just do not work for me in this medium. I actively try to forget this is a real thing Netflix is making.
But apparently it’s… Good?
I am usually known by my friends as the “snob” guy who only likes “good cinema”… And after like episode 3 I was fully in. It’s just pure fun.
And you can tell everyone put their 150 % of love and passion into it.

I can see they fully embrace the silly.
But it just doesn’t land. Like at all.
You didn’t think it would be possible. I still don’t. And every time I see anything from the show, I am even more put off.
