if trump gets impeached then theoretically congress should be functioning again and enforcing the constitution and law on the executive.

yeah he may or may not break the law but presidents that do should be impeached if congress is functioning correctly.

The VP has to be confirmed by the Senate if appointed after the election. A Senate that would convict Trump wouldn’t confirm Thiel.
