The EU are toothless, and I don’t think they would actually do much outside of a few half-hearted condemnations. Without the empire, the EU are nothing, and would get annihilated by Russia and China. Hell, even with the US they would have a really bad time. The EU are posturing against the US now, but when it comes down to it, I don’t think they would risk a full on confrontation with the US if they were to try to annex Greenland. What are your thoughts?
They’ll protest, “negotiate” with the US then recognize Greenland as part of the US in exchange for some “concessions (pitty money)”
The EU institutions would do nothing, the appointed-by-unilateral-decree leaders would issue lamely worded tweets.
come now, i’m sure they’ll find a way to put more sanctions on russia and torpedo trade with china. oh, you mean against the US? yeah nah.
nothing. The USA basically already defacto declared war on the EU via Nordstream 2 bombing. And then nothing happened.
Less than nothing, all interested countries actively worked to not investigate it and to hush entire issue. When USA accused Ukraine yet again especially Poland and Germany danced a little theatre and again hushed everything.
Monitor the situation closely
maybe write a letter saying they really disapprove of it
The EU is in no position to challenge or confront the US on anything. But a Greenland annexation will completely weaken the level of internal unity in the EU.
Liberal Europeans have been desperating hoping that the external “enchroachment” of the US and Russia will unite the continent in class collaboration. But neither Greenland nor Ukraine are actually part of Europe, they are colonies. The nationalist angle is weak.
On top of that, class collaboration only works when you have benefits, or the prospect of benefits to entice people. Europe is on a long term retreat, it cannot successfully remain united for long in the future, much less become more united.
America can also use Greenland as a carrot on a stick to get the European bourgeoise to do its bidding. European states/businesses who help America take over European infrastructure get to participate in the “development” of Greenland. In this time of economic decline due to Russian/Ukrainian supplies being supressed, how many European states will resist the opportunity?
The same thing any well trained dog does when their master cracks the whip.
Denmark has no option to resist. So, US will do whatever they wanna do. Besides, EU will be get ignored and less irrelevant in the future. Just like in dark ages, all fun happened in the Middle & Central East and China. We will be having the same period until a slave trader found a new continent, of course!
Just like in dark ages, all fun happened in the Middle & Central East and China.
Dark Ages werent a thing in the way you believe it to be. There was the Carolingian Renaissance, Ireland was going through its Golden Age. France for example was always under the largest entities population and economic-wise. Of course the top spots belonged to states located in China and India - But the idea that europe was irrelevant and incredible poor until they stumbled upon the new world is ahistoric.
Academics call the Great Divergence not the suddenly europe became relevant.
Academics call the Great Divergence not the suddenly europe became relevant.
Great Divergence’s traditional interpretation has been fundamentally challenged and refined by new data . New data shows that, the most advanced parts of Eurasia (the Yangzi Delta in China, Japan, parts of India) were on par with Western Europe in terms of standards of living, commercial sophistication, and agricultural productivity as late as 1750. There was no inherent European superiority. The divergence was not caused by earlier European superiority, but by contingent factors: access to New World resources (especially land-intensive products like sugar, cotton, and, crucially, silver) and readily accessible fossil fuels (British coal) that alleviated ecological constraints Asia still faced.
I’m not going into details more about euro-centrism and exceptionalism of the theory. Another issue is that the most advanced country was the UK it’s not the whole of the Europe. For example, Germany was a backward country until 1880s. We know how much Engels & Marx complained about the Germany’s backwardness philosophically, and politically.
I would suggest you to read Marxian historian Andre Gunder Frank. As a ML and historical materialist, Andre Gunder Frank is the most correct analysis on capitalism and why ‘Great Divergence’ is irrelevant now. We should focus on Great Convergence.
According to him, when viewed over the long period of history, Asian economies have always been superior. European supremacy in the 19th century was a short-term deviation brought about by industrial capitalism. Asia’s resurgence in the 21st century is actually a return to the historical norm (“Great Convergence”).
This view supports Kenneth Pomeranz’s thesis (which emphasizes similar geographical and ecological factors) but is more radical than his. Frank argues that Europe never had any inherent superiority, but only managed to integrate into Asia’s trade network thanks to the enormous transfer of resources (silver) that came with the conquest of the Americas, and that it gradually took control of this system.
Fast track NATO membership for Denmark and implement a no fly zone.
Wait…
To the last Dane! Wait…
A strongly worded letter perhaps. I don’t think they really would attack the US in this scenario.
We would take all our energy, several meetings and work groups of all our great leaders where we would figure out how we could best continue to kiss amerikkkas ass. This is not ment as a joke.
The E.U. isn’t so much toothless as it is our rich and powerful having long ago decided to do whatever the U.S. demands. Every time any E.U.-Leader talks back you just know it is empty appeasement of their voter base, just to betray their promises in favour of the U.S. as soon as they dare.
If Trump invaded tomorrow and build literal gas chambers the day after we would probably try to secure agreements for supplying chemicals and weapons.
The worst part? I disagree that we else would be swallowed by Russia. They aren’t the U.S. and would likely prefer trading instead of dealing with rabid dogs on a leash.

I know, but the EU are paranoid about being invaded by Russia, so they wouldn’t throw away their relationship with the US.
Nah. The leaders sell paranoia in order have political leverage to get this war economy going. It was a (calculated) bad move to keep Germany as a weapon forge. Now that our (sadly live in that bastard nation) political standing and leverage is big enough we have somehow convinced all of Europe to go down the one way street of arming up.
What we really would need to do is stop pissing off our neighbour and diversify our trade. Why are we hostile to China and Russia? Because it profits some powerful people and the US also demands it. Decades of slopaganda also aligned the undereducated wage slaves with these policies.
What’s your feeling about the current state of the German populace? Any possibility for left wing movements to grow there as they experience more vassalization?
I feel like most people are deeply embedded in the comfort of propaganda. Even niche, left wing papers like ‘taz’ have a problem with being overrun with liberal shitheads that defend Israels atrocities.
While I do feel like some people wake up and see what their country is doing I also feel like we don’t have enough time. The AfD is stronger than ever and our government has prepared police and surveillance just in time for the takeover that is going to happen “democratically”.
To summarize i would say we have more communists than the U.S. but we also got lots fascists, or people willing to work with them, that is at least how it feels atm.

Why don’t we create a resistance front?
Personally I am quite shit at organizing but I would love to join
What would happen is the final nail in the coffin for the illusion of European independence. Most of them would cave and run away as NATO crumbles around them. Some might try to openly resist, seeing this as an over-step and “final straw” but not enough to actually matter and there isn’t much they could actually do about it even if they wanted to.
The current European alliances would collapse and be replaced by three power blocs: the remainder of the US bootlickers, those pivoting to Russia for protection, and an ‘independent’ bloc that will probably be less important than the other two but which might build stronger ties with China unless they’re too racist and think they can go it their own way.
Regardless Europe will be fragmented and divided. NATO will very likely not be around for much longer and I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire EU collapsed - although more likely I think there will simply be a mass exodus of those members that don’t explicitly benefit from the union.
May I ask what countries do you think will be in each Bloc?
Now that I don’t know. There are too many factors involved that could sway where they end up falling once all is said and done.
It will depend on how much influence the US retains on them, whether Russia can replace that influence or not, as well as where their neighbors end up falling and their relations with them. Too many variables to accurately predict at this stage, I think.
I’m unfortunately not well versed enough in EU politics, so the only guess I could make would be, France as a part of the “independent” faction, while Germany heads the pro-US one. Perhaps Hungary becomes a part of the Pro-Russia faction but I’m honestly shooting in the dark.
If anyone more well versed in European politics could way in, it’d be appreciated.
Germany, Poland, Finland and Baltics will 100% remain in the bootlick group. Czechia and Slovakia will try to remain neutral but eventually slide into bootlick group since it’s way too embedded into their politics for the current semi-lucid phase to remain. Hungary will try to close to Russia, as a sidenote it might also blow up the Visehrad group (and good riddance it was mostly used as Polish way to masturbate about being regional power).
Perhaps Hungary becomes a part of the Pro-Russia faction
Hungary is very much aligned with Zionist Israhell and the us. Its just not NAFO brained. And honestly, France is also not that independent - they made a big deal with Palantir recently.
Besides Spain, most of the other countries that would go independent have too many us bases. Italy is could be, but its leadership is too brainwormed same with Portugal, the us might try to snatch up the Azores as naval bases. And Greece is allying with Israhell currently to combat Turkey. Belgium would literally be annexed if they run afoul of their neighbors.
“Would”? I’m sitting at 85% sure usa will.
The response will not be kinetic of course but I think they will give a fullhearted condemnation. I think they will take legal actions. It might even start the breakup of nato even if it won’t be immediate. I think Europe will be seeing the parallels to the the nazis and start trying to figure out what to do.
The part of me that thinks a Greenland annexation by the US is likely says it’s because they’re riding the high of kidnapping the president of a socialist country.
The part of me that thinks the US won’t do it says that there are too many top Military brass who are displeased enough with Hegseth, et al. and believe in the project of NATO enough, that the shoot down the idea and refuse to go along.
The CIA has the ability to cut the top brass out. The general in charge of southcom stepped down because the CIA’s Special Activities Center was calling shots that he didn’t authorize.
