The EU are toothless, and I don’t think they would actually do much outside of a few half-hearted condemnations. Without the empire, the EU are nothing, and would get annihilated by Russia and China. Hell, even with the US they would have a really bad time. The EU are posturing against the US now, but when it comes down to it, I don’t think they would risk a full on confrontation with the US if they were to try to annex Greenland. What are your thoughts?

The EU is in no position to challenge or confront the US on anything. But a Greenland annexation will completely weaken the level of internal unity in the EU.
Liberal Europeans have been desperating hoping that the external “enchroachment” of the US and Russia will unite the continent in class collaboration. But neither Greenland nor Ukraine are actually part of Europe, they are colonies. The nationalist angle is weak.
On top of that, class collaboration only works when you have benefits, or the prospect of benefits to entice people. Europe is on a long term retreat, it cannot successfully remain united for long in the future, much less become more united.
America can also use Greenland as a carrot on a stick to get the European bourgeoise to do its bidding. European states/businesses who help America take over European infrastructure get to participate in the “development” of Greenland. In this time of economic decline due to Russian/Ukrainian supplies being supressed, how many European states will resist the opportunity?
