Yes I know this is a false dicotomy, but this is “a pick your poison” type of thing. Which do you think is the lesser evil?
This really comes down to a choice between misinformation and an endless barrage of propaganda, or censorship. As horrible as I believe censorship to be, I think the former is actually worse since we are headed down a road of AI being able to drown everyone else out.
So I’m choosing the latter. It is an improvement over the road that we are likely to head down: censorship AND bot-generated misinformation and propaganda.
Without anonymity, there’s no point even having the internet. All the good things that came out of the internet came from the ability to communicate anonymously.
with anonymous internet there is at least a chance of having something decent. With id enforcement its like having someone looming over you ALL THE TIME. At that point might as well just not have internet at all.
The former, no question.
Option 3: Turns off internet and goes outside to touch grass.
How much filled with bots are we talking?
Say like 90% - 99% depending on the day and on the mood of few humans left… depending on if they feel like going online or not.
Are these nice bots? Or just pure spam.
They mimic humans but you know 90% or more are in fact bots
