This is what the radical far right wing of the US establishment is thinking about Canada. This has echoes of Project 2025 “when they tell you who they are, believe them”.

    This is chilling stuff:

    The United States can no longer afford to dismiss Canada as a benign neighbor given its history as an anti-American entity and the trajectory of its political landscape over the last forty-three years. Provocative rhetoric from prominent officials, coupled with the subversion of Canadian institutions by rival interests and the erosion of shared democratic values demonstrate its threat to U.S. national security. Canada’s post-1982 constitutional framework is unlikely to be revised and ensures that the country’s path is set in this detrimental manner. Whether the U.S. prioritizes countering Russia, China, or a strategy of retrenchment, Canada’s domestic instability and anti-American undercurrents demand attention. Ignoring Canadian affairs guarantees that our once-reliable ally will continue to undermine U.S. interests from within the Western bloc. To safeguard our security, the United States must recalibrate our approach to include targeted intelligence operations, diplomatic pressure, structural revisions, and possibly support for regional separatism.

      Well, they’re not completely wrong. Canada is roughly the same as it was 15 years ago. US swerving hard right could make those who have convinced themselves that they’re the centre of the universe that this makes Canada unreliable, as we haven’t tracked the US dive into political instability.

      No, it isn’t. They are thinking and doing plenty of horrible things, but not what is on that website.

      i didn’t read very much of it because i don’t suffer LLM outputs gladly, but to their credit at least the edgelords who created it were nice enough to put a troll face at the bottom to remove any doubts one might have about its lack of sincerity 🙄

      Check their twitter and other projects if you still aren’t sure, but after you realize what it is I hope you’ll delete this post to stop spreading their slop.

        I honestly don’t think it’s AI slop. It doesn’t have many of the usual markers.

        And I may have been wrong about it being of the far right wing of the establishment, but I think this kind of shit is entirely coherent with the thinking of the “dark web” and “Dark Enlightenment”, Curtis Yarvin types that do have the ear of very influential tech billionaires. The name (“DARC”) and troll-y style, as well as the self important way of being confidently wrong about the details, of this “alt think tank” is very consistent with that part of the cesspool of the US right.

          Wow. Although I do still think it is written with some LLM assistance, and I don’t think the authors sincerely believe the absurd alt-history they’re espousing in this article, I am sad to say I think your assessment here is actually spot-on.

          I got a slop vibe after reading just a little of it, and then clicked away and skimmed their other article titles (“Based International Law”, “The GIGACHAD Approach”, “Shitposting as a National Asset”, etc). then clicked to the homepage and saw their “Generated Affairs” (thisforeignaffairsarticledoesnotexist.com) LLM thing under Special Projects, and I naively concluded that the whole thing was merely an edgelord trolling project.

          Looking at it a little closer now (and seeing that their other link under Special Projects https://rickovercorpus.org/ is actually a serious thing which links back and thanks them for funding) I am also horrified.

          I still think it is an edgelord trolling project, but it is one with a likelihood to be seriously influencing actually-powerful people 😱

            That’s what makes me so uncomfortable. This is the spec of shit around which a whole “project 2025” type project can be spun around, the kind of thing that nobody takes seriously because it’s just out there …until all the people who authored and funded it start appearing in positions of power.
