Eggs aren’t (normally) embryos either, though. Only exception I can think of is that SEA dish where a fertilized egg is buried and fermented. Not sure how common it is.

Unfortunately, eggs aren’t as murder free as you might expect. Chick culling is common and accepted. Male chicks get thrown live into a macerator.
Dairy is its own horrifying can of worms.
I’m not trying to be argumentative. I am trying to eat closer to vegan diet for a variety of reasons. That said, its not hard to raise chickens and treat them well. My biggest problem is my daughters trying to hug them when they are clearly getting irritated.
