G’day guys, not really a dull story unfortunately but I just wanted somewhere to vent my thoughts about the nights events.

I work for myself have for about 18 months, started my own heavy mobile mechanic company business has been good always busy etc.

My wife just lost her job due to being 9 months pregnant and they made her position redundant. So we are relying on my sole income from working for myself.

Stressful yeah but manageable.

Unfortunately that all brings us to tonight,

At about 0100 I hear my car start up and crash through my front fence and off it went.

All my work tools all my licenses access cards to places and my work laptop.

I was fully packed to go do a service in the morning leaving at 0500 so I prepared everything in the car in advance so I just had to get up shower and go.

Now I’m sitting here at home waiting to call insurance and see what little they will do for me regarding the vehicle and tooling.

My wife super stressed since being about to give birth any time now and no prospects for an income for either of us unless I go win the lotto and buy a new car and tools.

The car isn’t really a problem though, I mean it is but it’s the tools that I’ll miss the most. I can’t even go get a job working for someone else again without having tools to do my job. Really is a shit situation Unfortunately.

Anyway happy new year guys I hope everyone else’s year starts off better then mine so far

That really sucks. I’m sorry for you.

On a different note - how tf could they fire your pregnant wife? Do you not have maternity protection where you live? What kind of colossal injustice is that?

      Cheers,

Firing the missus was a iffy one. She got the job before becoming pregnant, got pregnant while on probation so they extended her probation 6 more months then fired her at the end of it.

Damn man sorry to hear that! Thats a shitty thing that’s happened to you. Understandable if you’re upset, angry, etc. how do you feel?

One small idea, not sure if you’ve got renters insurance, but if so you may be able to claim your tools with that at least.

    Sorry again. Hang in there.

Yeah I’m very annoyed, less so about the car etc because it’s all replaceable in the end. My biggest concern is how i go about staying in business and keeping an income for the next few weeks.

My wife is super stressed now especially since my house keys were in the car, so I’m sleeping on the couch by the door at the moment.

Tomorrow we gotta get the door replaced all the locks and try get a new gate since they smashed the car through it

Bastards. Stealing tools is the worst :(

Don’t forget to check if you’re covered by your home insurance (if you have any).

You might also be able to get a grant/loan from govt in the short term so you can hire tools and not have to cancel too many jobs.

      Home %100 will cover this.

Also, when filing, make sure you list everything down to the brand and model. If you put socket set, the insurance guy is gonna find the cheapest socket set out there. Like $10 pot metal shit. This goes for all of it. It’ll take time but don’t skimp on this. Insurance is there to make money and pay as little out as possible.

Yeah but it’s the lack of time and lost income now that’s the problem.

Insurance will give “market value” for the car but unfortunately that won’t cover the cost to replace with something the same.

They cover tools of trade which isn only to yo 1500 dollars and not really a dent in the cost of what’s been taken equipment wise.

Shit news. Hopefully it’ll turn up.
I’ve had 2 stolen, one was never seen again and one was found within a few days and only had minimal damage and everything inside was intact. Fingers crossed for you.

We found the car via posting on Facebook in the stolen car communities set up since where I live this is a daily occurrence.

Car was 250kms away crashed in a ditch just outside the same place every other car ends up.

All the tools and equipment gone.

Hopefully the car is repairable though will know more monday

Sounds like you shouldnt have much trouble with insurance if it was behind a locked gate.

Cunts will definitely try and weasel whatever they can get out of though.

Do you live in a city with lots of neighbours / cameras or out bush?

Aw that really sucks man, so much taken… fingers crossed your car will turn back up. Sure you will figure it all out – sucks to have extra stress so close to a birth. Good luck with everything!
