I don’t even know that much about them but I can guarantee that when I see something posted by truscum communities, I’m like “I’m not touching that with a 50 ft pole”.

It seems a lot like they focus on what is a “real” trans person, which is very toxic, unless I’m misunderstanding truscum.

Truscum is by definition toxic as fuck. Scum is right in the name. They want to be some sort of “gold star” trans person by othering other trans people or denying them altogether.

    Its default shitty

They’re also just fucking weird as hell. The stuff they obsess over, they frequently attack each other too. Ironic really, considering these people were trying to escape their AGAB that imprisoned them so much… only to create another unnecessary prison out of being trans. Bizarre.

Back when I was a regular lurker in such communities, they were definitely headed that way. Looking for any reason to invalidate people who didn’t fit into their vision of the cis/trans binary was the whole point. Under the guise of “we want trans people to be taken seriously, so all these different people are hurting our cause”, so much hate was spewed.

I eventually left because I realised what that toxicity was doing to my mood and outlook on life, and eventually started to reverse my stance once it was no longer constantly being reinforced by outrage, but it really is a cesspool that breeds negativity and hate.

People who believe there is only “one true way” of being trans. They typically consider NBs or those who don’t medically transition “not really trans”, so basically the “No True Scotsman” fallacy of reducing the complexity of human experience down to boxes with strict criteria.

I’ve never heard of this before. But it seems toxic by its very nature, and something that probably isnt even natural, but russians or the fbi or some dumb far righters starting it for division.

I don’t know if anyone was running intentional campaigns back then, but they were already well established some ten years ago when I slid into that pit and it most certainly is toxic.
