But are they?
The past two years orders have spread over Rheinmetall’s cost intense Lynx (Hungray, Italy), some GDELS Ascod variants and different CV90 variants (Baltics, Scandinavian countries). France is still using its custom made War Baguette (VBCI), just like Germany is rocking the Puma and Poland the Borsuk.
Orders are determined by budget and also by availability. The Ascod won a tender (Latvia) just because of the CV90 backlog being too full. Meaning: the European market is still pretty mixed with bigger countries going with custom solutions.
And yes: in my opinion the CV90 is the best bang for the buck and the more users the better. Its reputation is unchallenged.
Edit: You might also want to take a look at wheeled IFVs (like the VBCI) and European mass orders of Boxer based platforms as medium forces.
Meanwhile in UK, we’re going for the Archer, a vehicle which is actively trying to kill its own crew.
Do you mean the new Ajax (Ascod-based)?
Yes! That’s the one.
As an ex-gunner, that was very embarrassing.
It‘s not, with all the fancy nicknames the Brits use… Striker, Spartan, Scorpion, Sabre, Scimitar, Sultan, Samaritan, Samson und Spartan, Bulldog, Warrior, … 🤪
And the new one will be Ajax, Ares, Athena, Argus, Atlas and Apollo.
It was always a 432 when I was in.
Or if we were using names:
Command Post
Battery, FSS or Troop
