Ah yes, tell me more about how liberalism creates conservatism and follow it up with how authoritarianism creates personal freedom. Bonus points for sneaking in why modem day Russia and China are such great places for LGBT+ folk, or why Hillary and Kamala are responsible for all of Donald J. Trump’s crimes and how if we can just destroy the Democratic Party we will finally prevent a Republican presidency. While you’re at it, remind me how it was that Ukraine forced Russia to invade it.

I take it that, in the year of Our Lord 2025, the by-now blatantly obvious relationship between liberalism and fascism is still a complete mystery to you?

That’s not an explanation AT ALL, that’s just belittling me for not believing the same things as you, making out that in stupid. It’s not a great way to win converts to your cause.

I’m familiar with people on Lemmy arguing that somehow electing Kamala Harris brings about fascism, and yet, entirely as predicted (by anyone who has at least one foot in the real world), not electing Kamala Harris has Trump enacting the fascist agenda for America, as published well in advance by project 2025.

I find it quite staggering that you can calmly write this kind of crap here on the internet while our brothers and sisters in America are locked up for having the wrong ethnicity. By Kamala? No! By Trump!

So yeah, the challenge to explain how Kamala is responsible for the crimes of Trump was completely failed, and you didn’t even attempt any of the other ones.

Gee… figured that out all by yourself, eh?

somehow electing Kamala Harris brings about fascism,

So, again… I’ll just assume that, in the year of Our Lord 2025, the by-now blatantly obvious relationship between liberalism and fascism is still a complete mystery to you?

while our brothers and sisters in America are locked up for having the wrong ethnicity. By Kamala?

Are you talking about the pig, Kamala Harris? Who made a name for herself in politics LITERALLY LOCKING PEOPLE UP.

You know… doing the dirty, filthy work of repressing the poor that the capitalists (and their liberal pet politicians) won’t soil their hands doing themselves?

Gee… I wonder if we have a word for that.

            relationship between liberalism and fascism

Well what I see from the other side of the Atlantic is that the Democratic Party largely see themselves as left of centre or centre in America, are right of centre by European standards, apart from a handful of progressives who come across as centre from where I’m sat.

They’ve had a couple of years in the last few decades where the Republicans weren’t able to block them, during which, instead of universal socialised healthcare they implemented a bunch of subsidies that perpetuate the harmful profit motive in the healthcare industry so that the government is spending roughly the same per capita as socialised healthcare costs in the UK, but the bat majority of Americans are spending the same amount themselves and some are selling their homes to provide cancer car for their parents.

The rest of government is captured by the very right wing Republican party, who are responsible in my view for some of the worst excesses of capitalism around the world.

Like you, I blame the Democratic party for not having a more left wing agenda and not using what little power they’ve had to make things better for the American people, but unlike you, I don’t blame them for the actions of their opponents, the Republicans.
