Yep lol my SO picks up on and accommodates my, er, “quirks” more often than I even notice said “quirks.”

I’m very grateful but it’s also funny in a way to think I’m doing great at masking then be told (lovingly) that I look like a distressed owl while attempting to tolerate a public space 😂

Looking forward to the day we no longer suffer that ableist conformist pressure to conform and mask.

It took me way too long to understand this post. How’s an autistic gal supposed to know what a stare means?

But You Can’t Prove It, also known as James Doakes Reaction Images, refers to a series of image caption memes using reaction images of Dexter character James Doakes (played by actor Erik King) with determined looks on his face, including an image of him driving a car and an image of him holding a drink in a bar. The memes feature captions about knowing that someone is hiding a secret from you, but you can’t prove it, a reference to Doakes, who believes Dexter Morgan is a serial killer but is unable to prove it. The format was popularized online throughout 2025 on sites like TikTok and X / Twitter, first appearing online as early as September 2024 on Reddit.

I was in that situation with myself when I was going through the autism diagnosis process, I even literally stared at myself in the mirror a few times. One line specifically I remember reading from the papers during it was something like “the patient shows classic tic symptoms, constantly scratching their head and twitching” and I was like “but-b… … oh
