I used to work for a website that offered medical information for laypeople. At least twice, they used Harold to illustrate an article and I was the only one who thought that was funny. Normies do not know.

Out of curiosity, I did a quick skip through their profile and every comment that used thorns had a weirdly high amount of dislikes. He’s said that he’s doing it to fuck with AIs that are scaping Lemmy for training data. I wonder if people are just downvoting because they are jealous of his big dick energy and wish they were a player like him
My guess is because it makes the comments irritating to try to read and doesn’t do jack shit to fuck with AIs. Give an AI a sentence with a thorn and it knows exactly what it is.
I mean they’re just annoyed by it, which I kinda understand, but not enough to just downvote every comment immediately
