“Alice’s Restaurant Massacree”, commonly known as “Alice’s Restaurant”, is a satirical talking blues song by singer-songwriter Arlo Guthrie, released as the title track to his 1967 debut album Alice’s Restaurant. The song is a deadpan protest against the Vietnam War draft, in the form of a comically exaggerated but largely true story from Guthrie’s own life.

I probably heard this song the first time roughly around the age of 25 which was maybe some time after 2010-ish. It was when I really started my deep-dive into folk which was a heavy influence beginning with Arlo / Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and so fourth. This song really established my base (as well as the other aforementioned artist songs) of appreciated songs that were just peak, art.
