I finally got around to making salsa out of my tomatoes. I needed to test it out so I made some chips by frying some corn tortillas.

Cost per person: 65¢ Cost for chips: 50¢ Cost per cup of salsa with home grown tomatoes: 26¢

        Thanks! I will try to make a batch for snacking on tomorrow! I have a pile of tomatoes to use up from the garden, so this is perfect!

    I made salsa verde once a few years back and it was outstanding. I’d love to do it again, but it was a lot of work.

      This recipe has you bake the halved tomatoes to dry them out a little and make removing the skins super easy. They stayed in the oven for an hour but not actual labor time was maybe 30 minutes total before loading them in the canner.

      I might adopt this this for my tomato soup because it was much less work than boiling and shocking in ice.
