Sadly, it was nothing more than a rumour > Auf das Buch Weihrauch und Myrrhe von 1988[50] geht die Annahme zurück, dass Weihrauch das in Cannabis vorkommende Psychotrop Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) enthalte. Laut den Autoren, zwei DDR-Toxikologen und einem BRD-Ethnologen, kommt die Entstehung von THC in Betracht, wenn sich die beiden Inhaltsstoffe Verbenol und Olivetol durch Verbrennung miteinander verbinden.[51] Trotz umfassender Versuche konnte diese These in der Praxis jedoch nicht bestätigt werden, weshalb ein entsprechender Zusammenhang als unwahrscheinlich gilt.
