I met her at a convention and she was so gracious.
Feels weird upvoting this. I assure you I’m upvoting as a sign of respect to the woman, and not as some way to approve of her death. Which is very sad.
An upvote is to spread awareness. It doesn’t necessarily mean you like the message.
A real gut punch earlier today when she messaged me: ‘We have gone on so many adventures together! But, into the great unknown! I go first!!!’"
Rip.
Her spouse wiki/Jennell_Jaquays passed away last year, she also contributed to some major games I enjoyed very much.

What a shame.
Their work on the Doom port to 3DO was an absolutely olympic task. It was a shame following the rapid downward spiral of their health on Bluesky.
Her last post on her crowdfunder was a kick right in the feels too:
“…So I can make a worthy entrance for reuniting with my one true love, Jennell Jaquays.”
Rest well.
What a delightful and talented person she was. My boxed copy of The Bard’s Tale III for Apple II and my giant book of mega dungeons are both on display in my house. They stand as small monuments to her and her wife’s contributions to the games industry.
RIP Burger Becky
Incredibly sad news. You’d always see her popping up in places you wouldn’t expect, YouTube comment threads, discord servers. I followed her mastodon posts and it was heartbreaking to read her posts about looking after Jennell in her final months, but she was so upbeat and warm as well in her interactions with people. Her work is of course legendary and Jennell too made some of the Quake maps that I still play to this day.
I do like to think though that is nice that the two of them are reunited. RIP Burger Becky.
Rest In Peace
@floofloof RIP ✝️ 🙏
