Part of why Germany kept invading places was to spur on their failing economy with the plunder they got from conquered regions…
Absolutely. You have to remember though, that this is once they had full control and almost completely eliminated certain demographics.

Currently people are just protesting, but the vices are clamping down.
I believe people protest now because they have some morals and see where this is going, I would expect more once they are actually personally affected
The USA has lived under a “fuck you, got mine” culture for decades, it’ll take some personal harm to undo it
