Coming up on the 20th Anniversary of the release, more relevant each year unfortunately.

… available to rent.
Gimme 10 seconds and I can find a torrent link, somewhere to stream it for free, you know, like V would want.
… fucking available to rent, jfc.
Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it.
- The Main Character From This Fucking Movie
“Capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead…” — a character from a video game that is also sold for money
… But you don’t need to pay for it, now do you?
Just going to use this post to brag that I own the actual certified fresh trophy that V for Vendetta won:

Is there an interesting backstory as to why you own the trophy?
Depends on how you define interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At some point during 2020 Republicans did one of their latest shitty thing to trans people so the Wachowskis went to their production studio and cleared out a whole bunch of memorabilia for auction with proceeds going to a fund to help
From my memory some of the standouts included a used on screen electric cannon from The Matrix, Speeder from Cloud Atlas, and the binder that detailed all of the plans for the highway fight from Reloaded
My lot included this, a technical sound award from The Matrix, and a judge’s choice award from a queer movie fest for Bound
Super cool, thanks for sharing
Okay that’s pretty sick
If you’re paying to watch this flick, you’ve missed the point. 😅✊🏼
Sailing the high seas, captain is the only way
It isn’t enough to sail the high seas, you have to sack a British port after watching.
Consent is key. 🙃
Me, I prefer a perilously enchanting Celtic cove. ahem
Some classic comic book monologuing

This is another adaptation where the comic is much more nuanced and a way better take than the movie.
The movie whitewashes the hell out of V, in the graphic novel he’s actually a fucking psychopath.
I’m glad we have both the comic and the movie. I’m glad the movie led me to the comic. I love them both.
Well, I mean they tortured the shit out of him. I have no problem with someone tortured by a corrupt and fascist government going full psychopath and killing a bunch of nazi wannabes.
in the graphic novel he’s actually a fucking psychopath
Well, he’s lionizing a Christian terrorist, so that tracks.
Kind of. His target was James VI/I, who seeded the Troubles in Ireland, burned Catholics at the stake, dissolved parliament, and more.
Fawkes was Christian and was a terrorist by conventional measures, and the Catholic monarchs prior were also brutal, but we should be careful not to apotheosise James.
Men who were Catholic were guilty of treason rather than heresy, and thus were generally hanged, drawn, and quartered. Legate and Wightman were nontrinitarian and technically protestant.
The best kind of protestant…
The best kind of protestants are Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879 adherents.
I would hazard a guess that he wasn’t a fan of the parliament, considering where he was found. That said, I do understand those ruling the country at the time were pretty horrible. I still don’t agree with his and his compatriots’ methods, nor do I trust that their rule, had they succeeded, would have been benevolent rather than the same, but bad for Protestants instead.
The movie is ‘V for vendetta’ in case anyone is wondering.
Nice movie
V for Vendetta was the last movie the Wachowski’s made that is worth watching, probably because neither of them directed it. Man 2000-2010 was a great time to be a movie fan.
It is also a great comic book.
I’ll defend Speed Racer (2008). It’s a beautiful film, full of color and fun. Sure the story is simple, but it’s just so much fun.
Also why did I never notice that Agent Elrond was V?!
I’m gonna have to rewatch it. Some day. Idk, I don’t get a lot of movie time these days.
Probably because you never saw his face.
Comic and movie – are there any other adaptations? (Book?)
Not that I am aware of. The artistry in the comic is so excellent.
thank you!
