True feminism does take things away from men. But it’s things they should not have in the first place. Like having double the power to vote. Making more money. Getting to boss around others. When you “take away” slaves from a master, the master loses their slaves. Another word is to free the slaves. The master will be less powerful than before.
However,
in recent years parts of the movement have flipped from a pro stance on womens rights to male oppression. Let me explain what I mean here.
A few years ago my little brother was bored at school and we were told that he should do some MINT stuff. Alright, we have groups for that, so we went and looked at available courses. Well shit, turns out because a lot of these groups want a good image, they make a lot of female only courses, especially in male dominated fields. The result was, that he was often not able to do what he really wanted and had to settle for something that gave him less. Instead of learning how to design and build a (little) machine, he went on to sequence some DNA. I see this in school and some other places as well.
As it is, GENDER equality doesn’t really benefit from strengthening one gender over another. It gets even more complicated with the less binary genders from LGBTQ, which will probably be the next to get oppressed, though I sure hope not. I know this touches on issues that are technicall not what real feminism is, but it’s been coined that a lot, so here we are. Instead of separating us by building female-only train wagons, couldn’t we just have security? Instead of fighting, that women should be paid the same as men, couldn’t we just say everybody gets the same? That’s where I would like to be.
