So I have a bambulab A1 and recently wanted to print something with TPU. The issue I have however is that the extrusion is just hella inconsistent. I get a coupel seconds of normal extrusion and then a couple seconds of pretty much none. The first layer was only half filled when I checked and I want to know if you guys have any suggestions.

I used the base preset for generic TPU.

This is the first layer I get after trying a couple different presets. Better than before but still horrible.

Maybe try with these settings (found elsewhere) : https://imgur.com/a/vGV9DV0

It seems like it’s the default TPU settings with these tweaks :

    • Pressure advance to 0.018
    • Density to 1.111
    • Max volumetric speed to 2

Is your filament dry? With TPU, it’s the first time that I saw a drastic difference of print quality. I dry my TPU for 3 hours at 45°C each time before printing.

After that the next step is usually to do a test print where you increase temperatures until you’re at the maximum range for the filament.

Basically you’re searching for the sweet spot. Heat is a major variable because it also affects flow.

I tried 235-250° without much change. Even tried uping the flow rate to 1.2 in the preset.

This is the only attempt that did not just fail at like layer 10 or something. And it’s still bad.

Gotta dial in those settings, I had lots of issues with tpu at first. I found my specific issue was with my retraction amount and getting clogs. Some.brands have profile for their fillaments on their websites that I’ve found good in the past

turn off dynamic flow calibration, and print slower. Don’t use AMS, you have to use the external spool holder.

I never used dynamic flow calibration and don’t have an AMS. Should I just reduce the default preset speed then?
