Oh my god that is fucking beautiful…
Nice wood, bro.
Wait. Did you post this just to brag how big your D is?
Gotta be 18 inches, at least.
I had never thought about what the D designation and the size of the ship might be suggesting until I saw the title of this post. I can’t stop laughing, and will probably forever giggle every time TNG “comes up” in conversation.
What a firm and beautiful D you have.
And what shapely and enticing nacelles.

Oh my 🥵
OH! Myyy!!!
“No one wants the fat ones.”
Speak for yourself! D for life!
Give it to him, he needs a new one.

But for real, your ship model looks nice.Love your D! I’m a bit partial to Excelsior class ships, but Galaxy is good too.
Thanks! The Excelsior was actually the first one I made :)

Obligatory “that’s what she said!”
That’s awesome!
Very unique hobby. Excellent execution. Awesome!
Big D
Beautiful. So beautiful
The Universe class will bankrupt you for a slab of oak that big.
Yeah, but once you’ve gone there you can never go back…

This is stunning, I love the grain! EDIT: you answered my question already, it’s oak!

Holy ship
absolutely beautiful! man I wish Star Trek would do designs like this again instead of “How can we redesign the Constitution Class for the umpteenth time?”
I do like the JJ Abrams Enterprise. Guilty pleasure.
The hot rod look on the front of the nacells and matching lower decks speak to design awareness. Just curvy enough without making it unrecognizable.

NCC-1701 (refit) and A are my favorite designs of all time. The original shape with the refit’s nacelle design just looks so sleek without being too over the top. I don’t like the newer ships after TNG: they look overly scifi’d.
oh don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the refit and A. totally. I just don’t want to see them…again…on “new” stuff ala the Enterprise-G.
And you’re right about the ships post TNG. They went from “we love exploring” to “we gotta fight the dominion and the borg and our ships need to look the part” Just give me more of the curvy yet powerful looking designs from TNG again. And I mean sure it’s not like there were many in TNG, hell the Nebula was just a Galaxy with no neck and an upsidedown stardrive but god dammit I liked it.
Love me a Miranda or Nebula class. I just think they should go faster than they do because double the nacelles
this is awesome work.
outta curosity, how do you feel about the Nova and Sydney classes?
They may be my favorites, lol. Nova because it’s sleak and actually makes sense as a science platform. (unlike the galaxy class. too big, too resource intensive, too many crew. and what the hell is with all the families on board getting shot at?)
I like the Sydney because it’s form follows function. it’s boxy, ugly, utilitarian. but it acutally makes sense. (Seriously… what the hell’s with the d’s compound curves? tons of wasted internal volume… exessive structural elements. Tons of vulnerabilities.)
A compound curve and beautifully wasted space sends a message to other cultures…we can afford this. Don’t start nothin’.
“Don’t start nothin with the Federation, or we’ll finish it with our heavily-armed conference centre”
Big fan of the Nova - it makes so much sense as a design from the same era as the Intrepid, though it does betray its origins as a Defiant concept to me, would work very well as a little agile warship.
The Sydney, ehh I can take or leave, it always felt a bit too kitbashy, but they did make a nice and balanced design despite that
I’m a big fan of all the weird little ships the federation scrambled to produce because of the borg.
You got the defiant, sure. but you also have the Akira and the Nova and their who-knows-how-many variations. it was like morons woke up and realized maybe they really do need warships and started throwing pasta at the wall to see what stuck.
