Bucking the stereotype, there’s an absolutely huge portion of the US armed forces who don’t swear, like, at all. The ‘noble service’ subset, which was the most dangerous by far while I was in, skews heavily towards the “naughty words send you to hell” kind of religious nutbag. Killing people? That’s fine, but don’t you dare say ‘damn’! I’ve had someone bleeding out, missing big chunks of their anantomy, saying “Gosh Dang” this hurts - it was surreal to work on someone where the programming ran deep enough that even traumatic shock couldn’t shake it.
You know what, FUCK, that. Conservatives for ages were allll about being moderate and controlling language. You know what I spent the last 10 or so years looking at as an a Canadian? “Fuck Trudeau” stickers on every like 5th car on the road.
