Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says he's setting a goal for the country to double its non-U.S. exports in the next decade, saying Canada’s former strengths based on close ties to the United States have become vulnerabilities.
I’m unsure why you have so many downvotes. You have some fair points here. It’s not just Carney (remember too, it’s been like what just a few months now?), it’s all of them. Our governments of the past 20 years, that’s Liberals and Conservatives have let us down on the innovation front, and now we are desperately trying to tread water to catch up when faced with challenges like we are today. That’s all of their faults. I, too, am getting tired of politicians selling old ideas as new, and I, too, agree that we need to be developing new fields of innovation that are homegrown. We sure as shit have all the resources we would ever need.
