Consider fostering, some organizations will provide supplies and vet care. Check the details to be sure you won’t get in a bind, and be aware that the goal is for the cats to have love and care from you until they are adopted by someone else. So it wouldn’t be permanent but you’d be keeping them out of a cage in a shelter. Of course your original pet will always be your true love.
