    I think that’s a bit hyperbolic.

First, while the franchise is in limbo at the moment, we will hear some official news after the spinoff “The War Between the Land and the Sea”, which is rumored to release in April 2026. That news is likely, “Disney decides to focus elsewhere, BBC to consider continuing funding.” Which will be followed by, “BBC says Doctor Who to return with a holiday special in 2027”.

So yeah, that’s a gap, but not the end of the world. Maybe it’s a 2028 holiday special, but still not the end of the world.

Second, this article largely talks about the book series. I don’t know much about the book series. I do agree no one is going to write about future Doctor stories until whatever the plan for Billie Piper is revealed, but do authors not write stories about old Doctors? Hell you can still write Ncuti stories as the “current” Doctor.

Doctor Who isn’t a world of strict canon and rules. Yes, within a given series things should make sense, but from series to series? Things can be timey-wimey.

I just searched for Doctor Who news and found a bunch of articles dating all the way back to August saying pretty much this. The spinoff will be next year, at which point Disney will decide if they want to continue with more Doctor Who. If they bail out, the BBC will be continuing it without Disney. I’ve never gotten into any of the books or radio shows or whatever, so I don’t know who this auther is, but someone should tell him how to use the internet to find information before making wild statements. One example, among many:
