Who the hell is doing well mentally these days? Seriously, what are people’s secrets? It’s been real disheartening to see how many people think Palestinians should be genocided because Hamas burned down their Reichstag building, and to see how many people think we should burn the books on trans ideology.
I focus on the good things in life. I have a lovely wife, 2 great cats and a great job that I enjoy. I try to focus more on that, than on all the horrible shit in the world. Not that I ignore all the bullshit, but it’s easier to stay positive when it’s not your whole life.
Granted I am privileged in the bullshit not directly affecting my life.
Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been given the “Ignorance is bliss” advice…
Not sure I would call it ignorance is bliss. It’s still very important to be informed, even if it doesn’t actually have an impact on your life. But what I’m saying is, it’s equally important to focus on the good things too. If not, it’s easy to live in a bubble of horror, which absolutely will impact your mental health.
Myself, I feel I am doing reasonably ok, I am sustained by busying myself with game dev type tool/method learning/practice, and then of course an immense, immense amount of schadenfreude.
The episode with them on Sound Exploder was pretty interesting. Apparently they never waned to be a pop band.
