Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on here. Looks like a mod having a breakdown. I posted the rest for context and I’m in the middle.
I got linked to the comment chain from elsewhere. The comment had a link to a tech dude’s blog, supposed to point out his white supremecism. I didn’t see anything bad in that article, but stumbled on another one with nazi apologia, thought they may have linked the wrong article, posted it. That’s it. That’s all I did.
I guess it is called awful.systems and the culture confuses me, but man, what a dick move to call me a facist in the modlog.
If nothing else, I hope this drama is entertaining.
Edit: Because this is, well, the internet: I was not defending DHH. Another removed/banned comment said they couldn’t find anything bad in that link either, so I found one where DHH was being more blatant in his bullshit.
Got a perma ban from there for reporting another user that jumped straight to cussing me out after I gently corrected a typo they made. Ended up with a ban because (shockingly) another user also found that disproportionate and reported as well, and the admin accused us of collaborative “spurious reporting” 🙄 They also hid it from the modlog somehow/for some reason. Found that pretty sketchy.
Sounds like a pretty
Awful
System of communities
It’s standard lemmy behaviour. If you ban with content removal, the removed content doesn’t make a modlog entry
And of course mod names (not even aliases) go on the mod log, which is cool and good. At this point why does it even exist?
They do, it’s just lemmy hiding the mod usernames for normal users. Admins can see the moderator names in the mod log.
That’s still shitty. More deliberately but less terminally.
it bugs me. language is imprecise and sometimes you get banned and the ban reason doesn’t, in your head, map to what you were saying. and then that changes how anyone who looks you up thinks you think. i’d much rather have a system that makes it clear what exactly you said and what the problem was
It might be good to have the option of a right of reply in the modlog for the person being moderated, for each mod action?
Didn’t/aren’t the devs so anti accountability now that they don’t even want mods names connected with actions?
*shrug* All I know is any other ban or comment removal I’ve seen on my accounts has been accompanied by modlog entries.
