I’m want to spread awareness about an issue important to me, but I’m unsure how often I can repost about it without coming off as spammy. I’m considering a timeframe of a few months to a year between posts. What do you think?

If you have experience with this, please share how often you think is appropriate to repost on Lemmy. I’ll probably get the average from your responses to determine the best timeframe. Thanks!

If you feel like it’s spammy it’s probably spammy. It’s not about quantity but quality. Post the right stuff into the right communities and you’ll be fine. Doesn’t matter how much.

In the same community? Depending on how active it is. If your repost is like 3-4 posts above the last time you posted it, then yeah it’s probably spammy. Across different communities on different instances, crossposting should be fine IMO.

I guess it depends how niche vs on-topic the post is for the community you’re posting in. But in general, I don’t think I’m going to bothered by seeing the same issue coming up every few months. And if you can find different aspects of o focus on, more frequent could also be fine if it’s right for the community. Half of c/android is just some variation on “Google sucks / hates it’s users / is destroying privacy”, which is fine cause it’s true and there’s lots of indvidual news items.

Try different instances. I just posted a meme on three different comms.

[email protected] was a new community I made. So I cross post stuff to 2 other communities on different instances so people can find it on local.

Now the exact same thing i wouldn’t repost for a year atleast (unless my memory of it is gone)
