If you’re passingly familiar with the tropes present in any husband-and-wife sitcom and enjoy dark comedies, I think you’ll appreciate the genre deconstruction without any confusion.

That being said, the show bears a strong resemblance to King of Queens, its spiritual successor Kevin Can Wait, and to a lesser extent Roseanne, containing a handful of references to those shows. Having watched all those made me enjoy this show even more.
