Chinese buyers booked at least 10 cargoes of Argentine soybeans after Buenos Aires scrapped grain export taxes, three traders said on Tuesday, dealing another setback to U.S. farmers already shut out of their top market and hit by low prices.
Its incredible just how the fast the US is falling from the world stage. Even Britain remained super relevant after the controlled demolition of their empire.
Britain kinda had to turn insular after the world wars. I don’t know what’s happening with America but it smells like hubris. It’s pretty worrying, too.
US will probably be more like France, a few decades of having wars in different parts of the world to pretend it’s maintaining an empire that doesn’t really exist anymore.
Nice job farmers. Now the corpos can gobble up your land for cheap and leave you out on your ass… Maybe you shouldn’t have backed the orange moron.
Expect a modern, app based version of sharecropping to make a resurgence.
Sharecropping is optimistic. They’re laying the groundwork to have a larger prison population that the government can rent out to the landowners.
American farmers reaping what they sowed. Or not.
Well, they voted for this guy, so yeah.
I will fight tooth and nail against any bailout for these chuds. They voted for this. Stew in it, chumps
They won’t get bailouts. It’s all part of the Project 2025 plan to bankrupt small farmers so agricorps can buy it all on the cheap.
These poor idiots voted for their own demise. But “trans scary!”.
Why wait? You can use Bitcoin to opt out of bailouts entirely.
Today I learned that if I buy some Bitcoin, then this will prevent the Government from giving loads of money to these people
Bitcoin mostly supports the right wing billionaires who we’re essential in creating Trump 2.0 these days. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are now mostly tools for the investor class to circumvent financial regulation. Whatever crypto currencies started out to solve, they’ve been completely co-opted by the nerd reich.
Bitcoin was hyped as a currency but was quickly behaved like an investment vehicle. I don’t think they were ever started to solve anything; that was just bs to get the ball rolling on making piles of money.
Just yours
Today I learned that if I buy some Bitcoin, this will prevent the Government from taking money from my wallet and bank account to give to these people
Why did you only opt out partially?
You don’t pay taxes then?
Nay, once every week for the past four years, I go to McDonald’s and order a hamburger for $3, but they ask me for $3.27, so I only put down $3 on the counter and then loudly proclaim I refuse to pay the sales tax on it. Then I walk out of the restaurant to force them to accept my money.
(I have not eaten a hamburger in four years)
Not the inflation tax that funds bailouts
Trump also took their taxes and bailed out Argentina. Lmao.
Rarest Milei W.
Actually, these tariffs could be the thing that turn impossible burgers into the mainstream. Could you imagine if an impossible burger dropped substantially below a beef burger? You won’t have to imagine it soon.
Can confirm, it tastes “good enough” to me that if it were the cheaper alternative I’d default to it.
A good fake meat burger beats a bad or mediocre beef burger any day.
But nothing still beats a premium beef burger.
Yeah. Impossible and Beyond burgers both beat shitty fast food meat patties, hands down.
Though I’ll take a nice black bean patty most days over both, or pulled pork, or salmon.
Or caviar, or truffles…
Never had those. Not sure what you mean - are you saying pulled pork burgers or salmon burgers are expensive? They’re not, here. At least at good restaurants, it’s maybe a couple dollars’ difference.
but the impossible can’t match the flavor profile of fecal matter. Notes of diarrhea.
Haha you think these is no decal matter in impossible burgers.
For fucking real! I got some when it was on clearance and it could’ve fooled me. I also kinda liked Boca burgers way back in the day when my mom used to keep the freezer stocked with them.
You mean when a beef burgers gets more expensive? Ah, the illusion of “dropping” below beef burgers.
I don’t know what sort of protein they’re using, it might not be soy based. But this does mean Dirt Cheap tofu that they’d be selling at a loss just to get rid of all the soybeans. You could also end up with warehouses full of soy protein isolate that needs to go somewhere which could be a very cheap source for a lot of things for years to come
Without the Chinese purchases, the prices are too low to make harvesting profitable or at least if they have no buyer, they get no profit. The beans will die and rot in the fields. Then next year comes around and they don’t have any money to plant new crops. I am not sure if insurance for crops is a thing anymore in the US but next spring the fields might be empty.
They’ll likely just start pushing blended meat / soy burgers like a lot of mass producers do already.
Impossible burgers already $1 cheaper in my cafeteria than beef.
Don’t know what happened with Just Eggs when real eggs were super expensive. What stopped them the past 5 years from scaling production to really take advantage of the peak egg prices
I tried some last week for the first time, and it is borderline a food crime. I was making some home made mcmuffins and tried them side by side with real eggs. It might be okay if it’s consumed with other ingredients like a breakfast burrito, maybe, but on its own or where it can stand out, just no.
I’m happy that it’s there for those willing to try or on a restricted diet/vegan lifestyle, but it would not sell as a direct egg replacement for regular folk in my opinion.
As long as their macronutrient profile resembles beef (ie. near to no carbs); I’d happily switch over!

Dang; thanks for finding that!
I keep keto/low carb to control my weight and appetite, hence the ask originally. At 8g/serve it’s still do-able as an occasional treat!
What protein do you think they feed beef? If you can feed cattle for free, beef burgers will still be cheaper than the fake meet alternatives.
They feed cows corn, and because the cow’s stomachs aren’t well evolved to digest corn, they have to feed them antibiotics constantly, thus making cows the number one consumer of antibiotics in the country. I know this because both of these operations are subsidized by my taxes and are therefore a matter of public record.
Didn’t I save your ass from some huge fly just the other day?
Besides corn they also feed the animals soy. I know this because importing soy protein isolate is cheaper when it’s for animals instead of human consumption even if it’s essentially the same thing.
Ohhhh nooo!
Fuck republicans and donald trump. You are responsible for all of this and the blood is on your hands dude.
Fucked around and found out. You picking up what you threw down flyover states?
Trump did this shit his first term and they voted for him again knowing full well he would do it again. Fuck’em
he also bailed them out, but this time he has no reason to bail them out, he wants thier land now.
It was mostly the big corp farms that benefited in the end. Many smaller farms that had been family-owned for generations weren’t so lucky.
Worse, farmer mental health declined and suicides increased.
Trump: Hey my policies killed lots of people during my first term. I’ll do that again, only this time on a massive scale!

Oh my god, it’s happening. My country made it into the news without it being something hideous!
Wir haben es geschaft meine Brüdis!
Wenn du aus Argentinien bist, warum sprichst du dann Deutsch?
When they Nazis.
Technically, long before the nazi went seeking shelter. The German speaking populace was a reason why the nazi chose Argentina
Genau das gleiche mit Blumenau und Pomerode in Brazilien.
We made into the news antagonizing America wtf, Milei is the bigger Trump bootlicker ever, I’m confused.
Hmm… 🤔
Exactly what they voted for
In Trump’s last term, farmers were bailed out with some nice cash infustions. They figured that in his second term, Trump would bail them again with some sweet sweet cash and that’s what they thought they voted for. They were wrong.
If I remember correctly, Trump’s last term made cash payouts to farmers because … wait for it … China wasn’t buying crops from the US (particularly soybeans) in response to the tariffs imposed by Trump’s first administration.
So I guess they weren’t entirely wrong with that “he’ll do it again” mentality.
So they voted for welfare for themselves basically. That’s MAGA for you.
Except that project 2025 does talk about scrapping a lot of farmer subsidies, insurance and safety nets.
They are getting bailed out this time too. $42B so far in 2025.
It will be next year or the year after, when the same thing happens and the government has shifted the blame to the farmers for not fixing their problems. When that happens, that is when the AcreTrader ghouls show up.
Maga: “winning!”
Bankruptcy is a small price to pay for smug racism
Watching these dumb fucks lose their farms and try to pull themselves up by their bootstraps working for minimum wage at Dollar General is going to be one of the few amusement that will come out of the next few years.
They will spend all day at the only cafe in town and bitch about how this is all Obama and Biden’s fault. These stupid a-holes wouldn’t read a newspaper if it had tomorrows lottery numbers on the front page.
